Just Say No!

Have you seen this magazine? I really like it! It's full of good articles and recipes for healthier eating. BUT .... I have to take execption to a two page McDonalds advertisement! Yes I know that a magazine requires advertising revenue. And yes McD's have been providing what would be considered slightly healthier alternatives to their normal menu. BUT come on ... they sell junk food! You can add all the dietry spin you like but it does not alter the fact that at the end of the day you are not eating the type of food that will result in a healthier you! Say no to the money!

I find a similar two-edged sword with Mc'D's sponsorship of junior soccer (of which my son has just completed his first season). On one hand the money is great, but on the other our children get more exposure (and free cheeseburgers) to a brand that does not sell the type of food I wish to encourage my children to eat.

I am really looking forward to seeing the movie Fast Food Nation. On that note I think I shoudl probably go and read the book first :-)
